About Andile Phehlukwayo
Andile Phehlukwayo, born March 3, 1996, in Durban, is a right-arm medium pacer and capable lower-middle-order batsman. Emerging through the domestic ranks with KwaZulu-Natal, Phehlukwayo made his international debut in 2016 and quickly became known for his composure under pressure.
With the ball, Andile is known for his slower deliveries, clever variations, and knack for picking up wickets in the death overs. In ODIs, he has been especially effective during the middle overs, breaking crucial partnerships with intelligent bowling. His ability to read batters and adapt on the fly has made him a go-to option in tight games.
As a batsman, he has delivered several match-winning cameos, most notably his unbeaten 69 against Australia in a tense 2018 ODI. Though he hasn't always been consistent with the bat, his ability to strike big in clutch situations keeps him in the mix as a finisher.
Andile has represented teams like the Durban Heat and Paarl Royals in domestic T20 leagues. Injuries and form dips have occasionally sidelined him, but he remains an important squad member due to his versatility.
Off the field, Phehlukwayo is humble and focused on self-improvement. He supports initiatives for youth development and mental wellness in sport. His balanced skills as an all-rounder make him a key utility player in South Africa’s evolving white-ball setup.
