About Bernard Scholtz
Bernard Scholtz is an experienced left-arm orthodox spinner who has been a key figure in Namibia’s bowling attack. Born on March 16, 1990, Scholtz brings control, consistency, and tactical intelligence to the team’s spin department. Wearing jersey number 5, he plays a crucial role in both containing runs and picking up vital wickets in the middle overs.
Scholtz’s bowling is known for its accuracy, subtle variations, and ability to extract turn on helpful pitches. His left-arm angle troubles batsmen, especially in limited-overs formats where his skill at varying pace and flight often induces false shots. Over the years, Bernard has become a dependable asset for Namibia across all formats, delivering strong performances in ICC qualifiers and global tournaments.
Apart from his bowling, Scholtz is a handy lower-order batsman capable of contributing useful runs when required, enhancing his value as a bowling all-rounder. His calm demeanor on the field and tactical awareness make him a leader in the dressing room.
Scholtz has represented Namibia in several World Cricket League events and T20 World Cups, consistently performing under pressure. He also mentors younger spinners in the squad, helping to develop the team’s future spin options.
Off the field, Bernard is passionate about promoting cricket in Namibia and is actively involved in coaching clinics aimed at inspiring youth participation. His experience and professionalism have helped raise the profile of Namibian cricket internationally.
