About Dhananjaya de Silva
Dhananjaya de Silva is a seasoned batting all-rounder known for his versatility, composure, and ability to contribute across all formats. Born on September 6, 1991, in Colombo, he made his international debut in 2015 and has since become a vital cog in Sri Lanka’s middle order.
De Silva is a technically sound right-hander who has delivered several important innings under pressure. Notable among them is his unbeaten 153 against Pakistan in 2017, which helped Sri Lanka win a historic Test series in the UAE. With the ball, he offers valuable off-spin, often breaking partnerships and controlling the middle overs.
As vice-captain in Tests and a senior figure in limited-overs cricket, Dhananjaya brings leadership and experience. His temperament and tactical nous have made him a key finisher in ODIs and a steadying presence in Tests. Wearing jersey number 74, he has scored over 3,000 international runs and taken more than 50 wickets across formats.
