About Evin Lewis
Evin Lewis, born December 27, 1991, in Trinidad and Tobago, is a dynamic left-handed opening batsman renowned for his explosive batting in limited-overs formats. Often compared to fellow Trinidadian Chris Gayle, Lewis has made a mark with his aggressive approach, clean hitting, and ability to dominate powerplays.
He made his T20I debut in 2016 and quickly gained attention with a blistering century against India, scoring 100 off just 49 balls. Lewis has two T20I hundreds and multiple ODI centuries to his name, showcasing his consistency and ability to play long innings. One of his most iconic performances came against England in 2017, when he smashed 176* in an ODI, registering one of the highest individual scores by a West Indian.
While predominantly known for T20 and ODI performances, Lewis remains a key asset in the white-ball setup. His explosive starts often set the tone for the innings, and he’s become a regular feature in T20 leagues globally, including the IPL, BPL, and CPL.
Off the field, Lewis maintains a low profile, focusing on his craft. His combination of power and technique makes him a crucial part of West Indies’ top order in the white-ball formats.
