About Imam Ul Haq
Imam-ul-Haq is a technically sound and consistent left-handed opening batsman for Pakistan in ODIs and Tests. Born on December 22, 1995, in Multan, he is the nephew of legendary cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq. Imam’s career began under scrutiny due to his familial connection, but he quickly silenced critics with impressive performances and a calm temperament at the crease.
Imam made his ODI debut in 2017 against Sri Lanka and became only the second Pakistani to score a century on debut. Since then, he has emerged as one of the most reliable top-order batsmen in the 50-over format, forming solid partnerships with Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam. His ability to build innings and anchor chases has been instrumental in Pakistan's ODI successes.
Imam has scored multiple centuries against top teams like South Africa, Australia, and England. He was also a vital performer in the 2019 Cricket World Cup, registering a century against Bangladesh. His consistency saw him ranked among the top five ODI batsmen globally at various times.
In Tests, Imam's double century against Australia in Rawalpindi in 2022 marked a turning point in his red-ball career, proving his adaptability across formats. His temperament, patience, and willingness to play long innings make him an asset in the longer version of the game.
Off the field, Imam is humble and focused, often crediting hard work and discipline for his success. His active engagement on social media and candid interviews have made him a fan favorite. With youth on his side, Imam continues to be a key figure in Pakistan’s batting lineup as they build toward future global tournaments.
