About Kusal Mendis
Kusal Mendis is one of Sri Lanka’s most talented top-order batsmen, recognized for his stylish stroke play, calm demeanor, and match-winning potential. Born on February 2, 1995, in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, Mendis rose through the ranks of school cricket and quickly gained attention for his batting prowess. A former U-19 captain, he was earmarked as a future star early in his career.
Mendis made his international debut in 2015 and made a major statement with a memorable 176 against Australia in just his seventh Test match, leading Sri Lanka to a historic win. This innings announced his arrival as a dependable batter capable of playing long innings under pressure. His elegant cover drives and ability to play both pace and spin with equal fluency make him a mainstay in the Sri Lankan batting lineup.
