About Mahmudullah Rihad
Mahmudullah Riyad, born on February 4, 1986, in Mymensingh, is a veteran cricketer known for his calm presence and clutch performances in pressure situations. Wearing jersey number 30, Mahmudullah has been a backbone of Bangladesh’s middle order and has also contributed as a handy off-spinner throughout his career.
Debuting in 2007, Mahmudullah gained recognition for his gritty temperament. He played key roles in Bangladesh’s historic victories, particularly in ICC tournaments. Notably, he became the first Bangladeshi player to score a century in a World Cup when he notched back-to-back hundreds in the 2015 edition, including a match-winning knock against England.
With over 9,000 international runs, Mahmudullah has cemented his reputation as a dependable finisher. His ability to adapt—building innings or accelerating when needed—has earned him immense respect. He has also been an occasional captain and has led Bangladesh in both T20Is and ODIs.
Apart from his batting, Mahmudullah’s off-spin has provided crucial breakthroughs, especially in subcontinental conditions. His leadership, mentorship, and calm under fire have made him an enduring presence in Bangladesh cricket. Though he retired from Test cricket in 2021, he continues to play white-ball formats and remains a key figure.
