About Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan is the face of Afghan cricket and one of the world’s premier leg-spinners across formats. Born on September 20, 1998, in Nangarhar, Afghanistan, Rashid made his international debut in 2015 as a teenager. His rapid rise to fame was powered by his deceptive googlies, quick arm action, and exceptional control under pressure.
Rashid's early impact was profound—he took a record 7/18 against the West Indies in an ODI in 2017, which still stands among the best bowling figures in ODIs. By age 21, he had already reached 100 ODI wickets and became the fastest to 100 T20I wickets in history. In Test cricket, his match-winning performance against Bangladesh in 2019, where he took 11 wickets and scored a half-century as captain, cemented his status as a complete cricketer.
In the T20 franchise world, Rashid has played for teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans in the IPL, Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League, and Lahore Qalandars in the PSL. His economy rate, wicket-taking ability, and sharp cricketing mind make him a consistent match-winner globally. He led Gujarat Titans to an IPL title in their debut season (2022) as vice-captain.
As of 2025, Rashid has taken over 350 international wickets and captained Afghanistan in all three formats. His leadership and skill have been instrumental in elevating Afghan cricket on the global stage.
Off the field, Rashid is admired for his humility, charity work, and dedication to his country. He lost his father during his early cricketing years and often dedicates his performances to his late parents. Rashid is active on Instagram and Twitter (@rashid.khan19), where he shares his cricketing journey and personal moments with millions of fans.
