About Thisara Perera

Thisara Perera was one of Sri Lanka’s most explosive all-rounders, known for his hard-hitting batting, powerful seam bowling, and charismatic presence on the field. Born on April 3, 1989, in Colombo, he debuted in 2009 and quickly became a fan favorite with his big-hitting prowess and wicket-taking ability. Thisara played a crucial role in Sri Lanka’s white-ball resurgence between 2010 and 2015. He was instrumental in the team’s 2014 T20 World Cup triumph and also contributed to reaching the 2011 World Cup final. His most iconic moment came in 2012 when he smashed India’s Yuvraj Singh for five sixes in a single over. With over 2,300 ODI runs and 175 wickets, Perera was a genuine match-winner. He also led Sri Lanka in T20Is and ODIs intermittently and featured in multiple T20 leagues globally. Wearing jersey number 9, he brought flair, firepower, and versatility to every squad he was part of. Perera retired from international cricket in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of explosive finishes and game-changing spells. His impact continues in domestic leagues and as a mentor to emerging Sri Lankan talent.
