About Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal is one of India’s leading leg-spinners in white-ball cricket, admired for his clever variations and ability to pick wickets in the middle overs. Born on July 23, 1990, in Jind, Haryana, Chahal originally started as a chess player and even represented India at junior levels before switching full-time to cricket.
He made his mark in the IPL with Royal Challengers Bangalore, where his impressive control and ability to deceive top batsmen brought him national recognition. Chahal made his India debut in 2016 and quickly became a key component in India’s limited-overs bowling attack. He holds the distinction of being the first Indian bowler to take a six-wicket haul in T20Is (6/25 vs England in 2017).
Chahal has taken over 120 wickets in ODIs and 90+ in T20Is as of 2025. His partnership with Kuldeep Yadav (known as "KulCha") was central to India’s success in the 2018–19 limited-overs phase. Though he has faced intermittent exclusion from the team due to competition and form, Chahal remains one of India’s most experienced and successful spinners.
Off the field, Chahal is a fan favorite for his humorous personality and social media presence. He often entertains fans on Instagram and Twitter (@yuzi_chahal23) and has a strong online following.
